Polanyi Works makes small, careful software for people at work.

How we work
Privacy first.
This site sets no cookies, runs no scripts and loads nothing from anyone else. In the apps, you can read without an account; what you type is sent only to the providers named in that app's privacy policy; and you can delete your account, and everything with it, from Settings.
Small.
One product at a time, finished and looked after before the next one starts. Each product has its own site, its own support page and its own address; EM Field Guide's are at emfg.polanyiworks.com. The notes below say what changed and when.
No ads.
Our apps are paid for by the people who use them. There is no advertising in them and no tracking across other apps or sites. In EM Field Guide, what costs money is shown in the app before you pay.
Notes
What changed, dated, in plain words. As of 2026-10-20, EM Field Guide is not yet in the stores; these notes describe the version being readied for release.

Rehearsals now delete themselves on the schedule you choose. The setting (off, 7 or 30 days) used to live only on your phone; it is now enforced on the server as well.

A check-in when a rehearsal sounds heavy. If what you type sounds heavier than a hard day at work, the app asks whether you are okay and the rehearsal carries on. Words that suggest real danger pause it.

Browse and read without an account. Sign in only when you want to rehearse or keep your rehearsals across phones.
